Save Money for Life with a Visit to your Dentist

Did you know regular dental care saves you thousands?

Preventive care is all about how you can keep yourself in better health; and preventive dental health care involves all the simple, but important things you need to do regularly to protect your teeth and save yourself, from spending exorbitant amounts of money.

There are several methods in modern dentistry today that will help you fight tooth defects and disease; starting with regular scheduled visits to your dentist. Remember, maintaining a healthy mouth, means you get to keep your teeth while needing less dental treatment.

Leading causes of dental problems
We can say without much argument that the two main causes of tooth loss are decay and gum disease, brought on by the occurrence of dental plaque and tartar. While plaque is commonly associated with oral diseases such as caries (tooth decay) and periodontal diseases (gum diseases), its formation is a normal process and must be kept in check. Its progression leads to more oral problems, like gingivitis and periodontitis.

You can control and remove of plaque and tartar with correct tooth brushing techniques and the use of dental floss.
The better the measures you take to you prevent tartar and plaque build-up, the better your chances of keeping your teeth for life.

Here are the basics of good mouth health:
  • Visit your dentist once in 6 months without fail
  • Brush your teeth every morning and night
  • A soft/medium bristle brush works best for your teeth and gums
  • Avoid applying too much pressure while brushing
  • A good brushing lasts 2 minutes long
  • Rinse your mouth well with water after every meal
  • Flossing is a must! Do it everyday for cleaner teeth
  • Do NOT ignore any kind of sensitivity or bleeding
  • Regular use of medicated mouthwash is not advisable
  • If you smoke cigarettes, chew paan/gutkha/tobacco and other substances that contain carcinogens; visit your dentist once-in-3 months
