According to a new study, posting food photos on Instagram can cause you to gain weight:
According to a new study, people who post photos of their meal on Instagram to share their experience with others are more likely to crave more, which can influence their waistline and contribute to weight gain. According to the poll, nearly 70% of millennials often post food photographs before eating.
The study:
Diners who took a photo of their dinner and shared it on social media waited longer to feel full, according to a study done by academics at Georgia Southern University in the United States. They were more inclined to order a second helping. Previous research has found that uploading food images on social media improves the flavor of the food because snapping pictures causes the brain to focus more on the smell and taste of the dish.
New Study:
The team recruited 145 students and divided them into two groups, according to the new study, which was published in the journal Appetite. Both groups were given a plate of cheese crackers to eat on, but half of them were instructed to first stop and take a photo. Volunteers were asked to rate how much they loved the food and if they wanted more just after eating it.

The results:
Snappers were found to have a higher level of enjoyment and a desire for a second helping. According to the study, taking pictures changed the way the brain interprets food and increased appetites.
"Food memories and the act of recording consumption can alter how much we eat," the researchers wrote. Our findings show that taking pictures makes people want more food after they've eaten it."
The effects were more pronounced in volunteers who were given six crackers instead of twelve.
Verdict:
Researchers recommend that people who are eating lesser portions, especially delectable food, avoid snapping pictures of what they are eating to reduce their calorie intake.
